The Game

The Vancouver Canucks will look to open their season with consecutive wins when they begin a six-game road trip against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday.
The Canucks, who opened their season with a 5-2 win against the Flames at Rogers Arena on Wednesday, last had back-to-back wins to begin a season in 2016-17, when they started 4-0-0.
The Flames, who will try for their first win this season, will be without defenseman Travis Hamonic, out with a facial fracture sustained Wednesday. Hamonic, who was placed on injured reserve Friday, retroactive to Oct. 3, is week to week.
Calgary last lost its first two games of a season in 2016-17, when it started 0-2-1.

Players to watch

Canucks rookie center Elias Pettersson, 19, had two points (one goal, one assist) in his NHL debut against the Flames. He was selected by Vancouver with the No. 5 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Flames center Sean Monahan, who scored Wednesday, led Calgary with 31 goals in 74 games last season.

They said it

"Anytime you can get points early in the year and get on a roll early it'll benefit us. To get up 2-0 on a rival and a team in your division can definitely help us a lot. We've got to come ready to play tonight, for sure." -- Canucks center Bo Horvat
"You don't want to drop to 0-2 to start the year, playing the same team twice. I really think we just have to get back to the hard work, the little details and moving the puck through the neutral zone well and we'll be fine." -- Flames defenseman Mark Giordano
