Valtteri Filppula agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New York Islanders on Sunday. Financial details were not announced.

The 34-year-old forward had 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 81 games with the Philadelphia Flyers last season, and three points (one goal, two assists) in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Detroit Red Wings selected Filppula in the fourth round (No. 95) of the 2002 NHL Draft. He has 463 points (168 goals, 295 assists) in 876 NHL games with the Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Red Wings, and 82 points (25 goals, 57 assists) in 158 playoff games. He won the Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 2008.
