Carter Mazur dreamt it, drew it, then did it.

The Detroit Red Wings rookie forward made his NHL debut on Thursday at Little Caesars Arena against Utah Hockey Club years after drawing himself in that very situation.

Ok, ok, Mazur's childhood drawing didn't get it right on the nose -- after all Utah only began play this season -- but he was correct about his future job.

Ahead of his debut, the Red Wings shared what appeared to be a school worksheet from back in 2010, when Mazur was just a little kid growing up in Jackson, Michigan.

His family was, of course, in the crowd and Mazur made sure to toss a puck to his mom.

The sheet was titled "I have a dream..." and the assignment seemed to ask students to fill in what their dream would be when they grew up. Mazur wrote that his dream was to play for the Red Wings.

Thursday night, he made it come true.
