The 2022 NHL Awards host Kenan Thompson played Le Duchamp, a shot artist who designed the crazy goals from the 2021-22 NHL season, in a silly skit played during the show. Le Duchamp explained his methodology when he advised players like Trevor Zegras on shot selection.
"I taught Zegras everything he knows about scoring goals," Le Duchamp claims in the video.
Hockey Hall of Fame member Mark Messier co-starred in the skit as an "Admirer of Francois Le Duchamp."
"Well, it has just become obvious that Francois has revolutionized the entire game in one season," Messier said in the video.
Later in the skit, Le Duchamp explains how he thought of his masterpiece,
Zegras' Michigan assist against the Buffalo Sabres
in December. Le Duchamp titled the goal "The Flipsy Dipsy."
"Of course, I knew it would work," Le Duchamp said. "But the small minds, they doubt me."
Le Duchamp ends the skit hurting his arm when attempting his new work of art called "La bicyclette," a bicycle kick with a puck.
"I think this summer, I go back to the drawing board," Le Duchamp admits with a sling on his arm.
