Tampa Bay leads best-of-7 series, 2-0

Brayden Point is questionable to play for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the New York Islanders in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Friday.
The Lightning center is the leading scorer remaining in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 15 games, second this postseason behind Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon, who scored 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) in 15 games before Colorado was eliminated by the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Second Round.
Point did not play in the third period of a 2-1 win in Game 2 on Wednesday that extended Tampa Bay's series lead.
The Lightning will be without forward Alex Killorn, who was suspended one game Thursday for boarding Islanders center Brock Nelson at 5:51 of the first period in Game 2.
"You'll have to tune in to find out what the lineup is tonight," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said after the morning skate Friday.
Teams with a 3-0 lead are 192-4 (97.9 percent), including 2-0 in the first two rounds, winning a best-of-7 Stanley Cup Playoff series.
Here are 3 keys for Game 3:

1. Build on character win

Tampa Bay won Game 2 when forward Nikita Kucherov broke a tie with nine seconds remaining in the third period. The Lightning will need to build on what has to be considered a gritty victory, considering they were down to nine forwards after the Killorn ejection (game misconduct) in the first period and the loss of Point in the second.
"We just have to keep doing what we were doing before," forward Tyler Johnson said. "Just rolling lines, everyone contributing, working for each other and playing the right way."

2. Generate more offense

The Islanders have scored three goals in two games in this series. Their power play was 0-for-4 in Game 2, which included a five-minute major in the first period and a 5-on-3 for 38 seconds in the third.
"We had a lot of opportunities obviously to take over the game with the five-minute and then the 5-on-3," New York forward Jordan Eberle said. "I thought the five-minute power play, we had some good looks; 5-on-3, we didn't really have any. … I like what we're doing right now. We've just got to find the back of the net."

3. Vasilevskiy on a roll

Andrei Vasilevskiy is showing why he's the reigning Vezina Trophy winner as the top goalie in the NHL and a finalist for the third straight year. He has won six straight playoff starts and has allowed two goals or fewer in each of his past five.
"You look around sports, quarterback in football and a goaltender in hockey, those are some pretty important positions in the sport," Cooper said. "You need not only somebody back there that's going to stop pucks, but somebody back there that gives your team confidence and that's what Vasilevskiy does.
"He's spewing with confidence right now, and it's giving our players a lot of confidence. As we march forward here, you've got to throw him at the top of the list for guys that have helped us get here."
