Few players get the chance to lift the Stanley Cup in their first NHL playoff game, but Volkov did. The Russia-born forward was a healthy scratch for each of the Tampa Bay Lightning's first 24 games during the 2020 postseason, but he was in the lineup for Game 6 of the Cup Final on Sept. 28 and played 9:34 in the Lightning's 2-0 Cup-clinching victory against the Dallas Stars.
Though Volkov didn't get on the scoresheet, he drew a tripping penalty in the first period that led to Brayden Point's power-play goal, which proved to be the Cup-winner.

The Lightning selected Volkov in the second round (No. 48) at the 2017 NHL Draft. He signed with the Lightning on June 29, 2017, and scored 23 goals for Syracuse of the American Hockey League in each of his first two seasons in North America.
Volkov started 2019-20 with Syracuse but earned his first NHL call-up early in the season and made his NHL debut with Tampa Bay against the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 30, 2019. He was returned to Syracuse in early November but was called up twice more during the season and had an assist against the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 14, 2020, for his first NHL point.
