That's the date the League has determined that goalies will begin wearing a new League-mandated goalie pant size.
Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot has received the gear.
"I got my new pants, I don't wear them in games yet," he said. "I've only worn them in one practice so far and I wore them for the skills competition but obviously, I didn't get a whole lot of work that day. It's tough to get a feel for them so far but anytime we get some practice time I'll be in them because the deadline is until February 4."
The new equipment specs don't seem to faze the Oilers starter, who sits second in the NHL in wins with 24 and first in games played with 42.
"Honestly, they were a little skinnier in the thigh and a little bit in the waist but the length didn't really seem to be affected too much so as long as everything is covered, I mean, still got to go out there and make the save so it shouldn't make too big of a difference."
The busiest goalie in the League boasts a .918 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average.
"To me, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. I don't wear overly bigger equipment, I don't think. I've never altered my pants or equipment for that matter so hoping that doesn't affect me too much."
