As the Vegas Golden Knights look ahead to the 2019-20 season, the team will check off a few milestones during the summer. Management has begun preparations for the NHL Draft and the open of free agency, Mark Stone is ready for the NHL Awards, and prospects are getting ready to reunite at development camp.
June 19: NHL Awards presented by Bridgestone
For the 10th time, the NHL Awards will take place in Las Vegas as the league's top players gather to celebrate the end of the season. The ceremony will start at 5 p.m. PT and be hosted at the Mandalay Bay Events Center for the first time. Mark Stone is a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy given to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game. It's Stone's first nomination for an end-of-season award. At last year's festivities, William Karlsson received the Lady Byng Trophy, Deryk Engelland won the Mark Messier Leadership Award, Gerard Gallant earned the Jack Adams Award and George McPhee was named the General Manager of the Year.
June 21-22: NHL Entry Draft
The Vegas Golden Knights will participate in the draft for the third time in franchise history. Vegas will make one pick on June 21 in the first round and eight picks on June 22 during rounds 2-7 of the draft. The Golden Knights own one second round pick, three third round picks, one fourth round pick and three fifth round picks. The 2019 draft will be held at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
