Stephen Johns spent his 4th of July the way anyone might expect: at the last Blockbuster Video store.

The former Dallas Stars defenseman began his #MentalMiles endeavor, where he plans to skate across the United States, after announcing his retirement from the NHL last month. Johns has

so all proceeds raised will benefit Mental Health America of Greater Dallas.

. And on Sunday, Independence Day in America, he shared a photo in front of the last Blockbuster Video store in Bend, Oregon.

Johns then ventured south to Crater Lake, Oregon where there was some eye-popping scenery. Of course, Johns and his road trip partner, photographer Jeff Toates, were decked out in Blockbuster gear.
For the youngsters out there, Blockbuster Video was once a wildly successful movie rental chain that became obsolete with the popularization of streaming services. Blockbuster is now famously down to a single store in America and it has become somewhat of a tourist attraction.
Johns and Toates have shared some beautiful photos and videos along the way. Some scenery from Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming to open roads in Montana have been highlights so far.

And then there is this one of Johns floating down a river, complete with his roller skates on.

Just three days ago, Johns was joined on the road by Detroit Red Wings forward Bobby Ryan.
