The soon-to-be newest team in the NHL isn't waiting until it plays games to make a big impact in its community.

The Seattle Kraken shared a link on social media to a section of their website entitled "Black Lives Matter" that focuses on activism and the fight for racial equality.
The team tweeted out a
statement along with a link
that read, "We continue to stand with the entire sports community in condemning brutality against people of color. These continued actions have no place in our society. We stand in solidarity with Jacob Blake, his family and all of the communities that have been and continue to be affected by these senseless acts of violence."
Blake, a Black man, was shot multiple times by police in Wisconsin on Sunday and is paralyzed. The cellphone video of the incident has led to demonstrations across the country three months after protests against police brutality erupted over the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody in Minneapolis on May 25.

The page on Seattle's website has different sections to help visitors navigate ways they can help the fight for equality.
The "Take Action" section offers resources on contacting elected officials, joining local chapters of anti-racism organizations, signing petitions, volunteering in the community and registering to vote.
There are also sections marked "Donate," "Read, "Watch," "Listen" and "Follow" containing valuable information, as well as links to podcasts, movies, books and other multimedia.
