Kraken hold on in the 3rd to beat Flyers, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA -- Jaden Schwartz scored two goals, and the Seattle Kraken ended a three-game skid with a 4-3 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday.

Jordan Eberle had a goal and an assist, Eeli Tolvanen scored, and Philipp Grubauer made 15 saves for the Kraken (30-18-5), who had lost five of seven (2-4-1).
"Anytime you've lost three in a row, especially coming out of the [All-Star] break, you start doubting yourself a bit," Eberle said. "But we know we have the team in here. We know we're good. We know that we're a fast team and when we play to the way that we know we can, we're a good team in this League."
Owen Tippett had a goal and an assist for the Flyers (22-23-10), who were coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday and are 2-3-3 in their past eight. James van Riemsdyk and Patrick Brown also scored, and Felix Sandstrom made 17 saves.
"I don't think we were good enough," Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said. "It's not going to come down to disappointment or frustration. ... I don't think we played good enough. The team that won was better."

SEA@PHI: Schwartz rips home a shot from the slot

Schwartz was a big reason why Seattle was better. He put the Kraken ahead 3-2 at 18:59 of the second period when he found open space between the hash marks and scored off a pass from Eberle.
Schwartz then made it 4-2 at 1:03 of the third period with a shot from the right face-off dot.
The goals were the forward's first points in four games since he returned from an undisclosed injury that caused him to miss eight games.
"Not playing a game for maybe three, four weeks, just felt a little bit off, legs and timing a little bit," Schwartz said. "I think any player would tell you when you miss some time, it's a little bit of an adjustment. ... I've had some practices and a few games under my belt.
"When you're out you can kind of do as much as you can in the gym and on the ice, but nothing feels the same as it does when you're actually in a game. I'd say tonight my jump felt a lot better than in the first couple games."
Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said Schwartz's presence, as much as his goal scoring, helps the Kraken.
"The one that you don't see is his presence in the locker room," he said. "He's the guy that keeps a lot of guys around him loose. He's won and he's got that presence, and he's pretty timely in the way he delivers some of his leadership.
"On the ice, a lot of it is about possession. He's a guy that is not a big guy, but he is great on the walls, he creates possession down low, and it was nice to see him finish on two for us, and those were big."

SEA@PHI: Schwartz scores 2nd goal in 3rd period

Tippett gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at 2:11 of the first period with a power-play goal.
However, Philadelphia generated just one more shot on goal the rest of the period, and none in the final 16:35. Their 18 shots on goal for the game was a season-low.
"Their D were aggressive, we couldn't get the pucks past their D along the wall, and then you're spending a lot of time in your zone, so no energy for offense," Flyers forward Scott Laughton said. "You're changing on the way out and they're coming back at you. Couldn't get it out and they made us pay."
Eberle tied it 1-1 at 12:53 when he finished a 2-on-1 rush with Jared McCann that began when Philadelphia defenseman Tony DeAngelo turned the puck over at Seattle's blue line. It was his first goal in 13 games.
Tolvanen made it 2-1 at 17:01 after Oliver Bjorkstrand took the puck from van Riemsdyk along the right side in the Flyers' zone.
Van Riemsdyk responded to tie it 2-2 at 3:33 of the second period, getting to the front of the Kraken's net and tipping Tippett's shot up before batting it down past Grubauer.
After Schwartz's two goals put the Kraken ahead 4-2, Brown scored a short-handed goal at 16:40 for the 4-3 final.
NOTES: It was Schwartz's second two-goal game of the season; he scored twice against the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 23. ... Kraken forward Ryan Donato played in his 300th NHL game. ... The Flyers have scored 10 short-handed goals, which is tied with the Edmonton Oilers for the NHL lead. ... Philadelphia defensemen Nick Seeler played in his 200th NHL game. ... Ivan Provorov had an assist on Brown's goal, giving him 148 in the NHL, which is tied with Jimmy Watson for 10th amonng defensemen in Flyers history.
