"We were able to play the way we want to play, to our identity," Predators coach John Hynes said.
Timo Meier scored, and James Reimer made 23 saves for San Jose (4-2-0), which finished 3-2-0 on a five-game road trip.
"There's a lot of good things and I'm trying to see the positives with this group," Sharks coach Bob Boughner said. "It's early in the season [and] we're 4-2 after playing five out of six on the road."

Duchene gave the Predators a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 1:20 of the first period. Josi set the play up in the neutral zone with a pass to Duchene, who scored on a wrist shot from between the circles.
"I thought it was unlucky," Reimer said. "The puck kind of rolled right as he was shooting it. The bottom fell out on me. I couldn't quite catch up to it as it was dipping."
