Nyquist

Gustav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings will have a phone hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Wednesday for high sticking against Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon in a 6-3 loss Sunday.
Nyquist was offered an in-person hearing by the League but waived his right to one.

Nyquist received a double minor at 14:13 of the first period when he struck Spurgeon in the face with his stick blade. The forward has seven goals in 56 games, and his 29 points are tied for third on the Red Wings.
Spurgeon had an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in 22:16.
