RECAP: Hurricanes 4, Blackhawks 3

RAPID REACTION:Jeremy Colliton's first game behind the bench as the Blackhawks head coach was a wild one. Chicago found itself down 4-0 to the Hurricanes and in desperate need of a spark. They came alive and scored three-straight goals, but couldn't net the equalizer.

David Kampf cut the Canes lead back down to two with his second goal of the season at 10:53 of the middle frame.
Nick Schmaltz fired in the goal that made it a 4-3 game at 3:33 of the third period.
The Blackhawks pulled Corey Crawford late and played some good hockey in the offensive zone but it just wasn't their night for a comeback.
KANE NETS ANOTHER:Patrick Kane had a blazing start to the 2018-19 season. After dealing with illness and poor team performance on last week's road trip, Kane was finally back to his scoring ways on Thursday night. His second-period tally was his 12th goal of the season. Kane also recorded an assist on Schmaltz's goal.

SCHMALTZ SNIPE:Schmaltz's second goal of the season was a snipe from the top of the circle that beat Scott Darling. It was the forward's first goal since Oct. 21, against Tampa Bay.
KRUGER HURT:Marcus Kruger suffered a left leg injury in the second period and did not return to the game in the third.
