RECAP: Golden Knights 4, Blackhawks 3

RAPID REACTION:Vegas scored two goals in a matter of 12 seconds to regain the lead from the Blackhawks in the third period, which helped propel them to a 4-3 victory, handing Chicago their sixth straight loss.
The Golden Knights went up 1-0 when Reilly Smith potted his fifth of the season, on the power play, at 1:28 of the opening period. It's the ninth straight time the Blackhawks have allowed the game's first goal.
A shot from the blueline by Deryk Engelland snuck past Crawford at 8:14 of the first to make it 2-0.

Dylan Strome scored his third goal in six games with the Blackhawks on a steep-angle shot at 16:15 of the middle frame.
Artem Anisimov gave the Blackhawks their first lead since Nov. 18 when he stole the puck at the blueline then went top shelf with a backhand to make it 3-2 at 7:14 of the third.
That lead lasted just 41 seconds, however, as Jonathan Marchessault scored for Vegas to tie the game again.
12 seconds after that, Alex Tuch scored to make it 4-3, but with contact on Corey Crawford the Blackhawks challenged for interference. The goal was upheld, giving the Golden Knights the edge and eventually the win.
THE CAPTAIN:Toews continued his productive start to the season against the Golden Knights with his 13th goal and 24th point. The captain now finds himself on a three-game point streak with two goals in that span.

UNDER REVIEW:Late in the second, it looked like there was a chance that Vegas had taken a 3-2 lead when the puck crossed the line before the net came off in a collision. However, the goal was reviewed and determined not to be a score due to goaltender interference. Vegas challenged that there was no interference, the goal was reviewed again and the 2-2 score remained. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, the game's second review did not go their way.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT:Acquiring Strome and Brendan Perlini from the Arizona Coyotes was an investment in the forward depth of the team. But it was also placing a bet on the potential. Both were taken in the first round of their respective NHL Drafts. Strome, an offensively dynamic player in juniors, was taken third overall in 2015. In six games now with the Blackhawks, he has three goals and an assist and appears to be developing some chemistry in the top six.
