The Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) has named center Rickard Rakell to the 2018 NHL All-Star Weekend, taking place in Tampa, Florida from January 26-28. Rakell will make his first All-Star appearance at this year's event.

Rakell, 24 (5/5/93), has scored 15-16=31 points with 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in 38 games with the Ducks this season. He leads Anaheim in goals, points, and multi-point games (9) and ranks tied for third in assists. Rakell earned a career high six-game goal streak (7-3=10) from December 21-January 2, which was the longest by a Duck since Corey Perry's seven-game run from Nov. 29-Dec. 11, 2013. Rakell's scoring streak was the second longest in the NHL this season, one shy of Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov, who scored in seven straight contests.
Selected by Anaheim in the first round (30th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Rakell has collected 77-83=160 points with a +4 rating and 55 PIM in 274 career NHL games with the Ducks. In 2016-17, the Sundbyberg, Sweden native became the fourth-youngest Duck to eclipse 30 goals in a season (Paul Kariya, 21 years 3 months; Bobby Ryan, 23 years 0 months and Perry, 23 years 10 months). Internationally, Rakell represented Sweden at three consecutive World Junior Championships, winning gold in 2012 and silver in 2013. He was named to Team Sweden's roster for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey but was unable to participate due to injury.
