SEASON SERIES: Tonight's game marks the second of three meetings between the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars. The first time the two teams clashed this season resulted in a 4-2 victory for the Stars at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Nov. 10. Jamie Benn's third-period power play tally was the game winner and Benn's second marker of the contest. The Flames offence was led by Johnny Gaudreau, who registered his only two-goal game of the season. Brian Elliott was between the pipes for Calgary stopping 18 of 22 shots. The final meeting between Calgary and Dallas takes place on Mar. 17 in Calgary.

FLAMES TEAM SCOPE:The Flames are coming off a lopsided 8-3 triumph over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. The eight goals scored by Calgary were the most in a single game since Mar. 22, 2014 and the most at home since Mar. 1, 2000. The win on Sunday also featured a six-goal run by the Flames in the second period. Five of the goals in the middle stanza were scored in a span of 6:14. Calgary also went 2-3 on the power play and scored a shorthanded marker. 13 Flames players factored on the scoresheet with Alex Chiasson (1-2-3), Matt Stajan (1-2-3) and Sam Bennett (1-2-3) enjoying three-point performances and Johnny Gaudreau (1-1-1), Troy Brouwer (1-1-1), Sean Monahan (1-1-1), Garnet Hathaway (0-2-2) and Kris Versteeg (0-2-2) with two-point efforts. Gaudreau saw his first game action Sunday since suffering a fractured finger on Nov. 15. and had missed the previous 10 games. It didn't take Gaudreau long to make an impact. The 23-year-old scored on his first shot in his shift. After a tough start, the Flames have picked it up lately, going 8-3-1 in their last 12 games and getting to within striking distance of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Tonight's game is the first of a two-game road swing that takes them to Arizona to the battle the Coyotes on Thursday before returning home to host the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
STARS TEAM SCOPE: The Stars have had two days off and are coming off a 3-0 shutout win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday to close out a four-game road trip. Dallas forward Tyler Seguin recorded two points (1-1-2) against Colorado on Saturday night and is now riding a four-game point streak (2-3-5). Seguin shares third in the NHL with 27 points (9-18=27) in 26 games this season and is tied for third in the League with 18 assists. Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen posted his 35th career shutout in the win over the Avs. Stars forward Patrick Eaves leads his team in goals this season with 10. The Stars head into Tuesday's match-up with a 10-10-6 record and 26 points on the year. They currently sit 6th in the Central Division and trail the Winnipeg Jets, who hold the final Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference, by two points. Dallas is 29th in the league in goal-differential at -19.
