Following the on-ice session, defensemen Jeff Petry and Brett Kulak, and interim head coach Dominique Ducharme spoke with reporters via Zoom.
Here are a few highlights from their respective chats:
Petry was asked about the impact new assistant coach Alex Burrows has made since joining the staff:
The first meeting we had in Winnipeg going over the power play, it kind of took everybody by surprise with the energy and enthusiasm he had. He's brought a new style to our power play and he's really focused on making sure that we're executing, not only in games, but in practice. That excitement and enthusiasm that he brings is contagious. There's nothing that he hasn't covered. We have plays that we're running off the o-zone draws to our breakouts to our puck retrievals. He's really hammering home the basic things that we need to do to get us prepared to go out and execute.

Petry on the improved power play

Petry also talked about the possible return of right-winger Josh Anderson, who remains a game-time decision:
We all knew the kind of player he was coming in. We've all played against him. He's a guy with speed, physicality, and just his presence on the ice is very big for our team. To have a guy potentially coming back tonight that plays like that, especially against a team like Winnipeg that likes to cycle the puck and they're a big team as well, is huge. He's a big, important part of our team. Hopefully, he's feeling up for it and feeling good, and we can see him in the lineup tonight.

Kulak, meanwhile, shared his thoughts on his partnership with rookie Alexander Romanov:
We work well together. We're both skating well and we're assertive with the puck. We're also making aggressive plays and playing quick and hard defensively. The game happens good for us. I think we've gotten back to that lately. We're doing well, but you can always be better and there's always things you want to improve as the game unfolds. But we're happy with how we've been playing and we're looking to build off it.

Kulak on the changes Ducharme has made to the team

Kulak touched on the playoff-like mentality the Canadiens must adopt against Winnipeg as well:
You kind of get sick and tired of battling the same guys. Sometimes you win the battles and sometimes you lose them, and you look to get them back. It's good. We're playing every second day and we've played this team a lot right now, so there's a little bit of hatred there for each other, but it brings the competitive level of the game up a little more. For us, they've had our number the last couple of games, so we're obviously hungry to take it to them.

Ducharme discussed the possibility of featuring a line with Tyler Toffoli, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Anderson:
We want to have the best lineup possible. We'll see what happens with Josh. We'll have to make a decision about him before the game. We saw some positive signs this morning, so we're confident he'll play. But we can't confirm that he'll be in the lineup. With respect to the line, it's something we'd like to see eventually.

Ducharme on Anderson's status vs. Winnipeg

The Canadiens' bench boss believes Anderson has plenty of key assets:
Josh brings a lot to our team. He's a guy who skates and he plays physical. He's talented and he can score goals. We saw that in the past. He usually has strong starts to games, which is good for us.
