The Ducks earned their first victory of the 2017 preseason with a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings at Honda Center. The homestand concludes Sunday (5 p.m.) with the Honda Center debut of the Vegas Golden Knights, who are in their inaugural season in the National Hockey League.

Making his preseason debut, Jakob Silfverberg collected a game-high 1-2=3 points with an empty-net tally and assists on Anaheim's first two goals from Rickard Rakell (PPG) and Jaycob Megna. Megna (1-1=2) also earned an assist on the Ducks' third goal to give Anaheim its second multi-point performance.
Center Mitch Hults made his first career NHL preseason appearance this evening, scoring Anaheim's third goal (and game-winner) at 15:12 of the third period while winning 7-of-12 faceoffs (58%) in 12:27 TOI. Signed to a two-year entry-level contract on March 20, 2017, Hults collected 1-3=4 points in six regular-season games and scored one goal in two Calder Cup Playoff games with the San Diego Gulls (AHL) last season.
Nick Ritchie, Kevin Bieksa, Josh Manson, Antoine Vermette and Chris Wagner all picked up their first points of the preseason with single assists.
John Gibson and Ryan Miller split tonight's goaltending duties for the Ducks in their first appearances of the preseason. Getting the start, Gibson stopped 10-of-11 shots before Miller took over halfway through the second period. Miller turned away 12-of-13 shots en route to earning the first win by an Anaheim goaltender this preseason.
