OTT@SJS: Tierney lifts wrist shot past Dell

SAN JOSE -- Chris Tierney scored 35 seconds into overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 2-1 win against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center on Saturday.

Tierney won it after receiving a saucer pass from Anthony Duclair over a sliding Brent Burns on a 2-on-1. Tierney played with the Sharks from 2014-18, his first four seasons in the NHL.
"I have a lot of good memories here," Tierney said. "I had a really good bond with the fans and the team. I had a lot of good relationships with the guys. It will always have a special place in my heart, but good to beat them also."

Aaron Dell made 36 saves for San Jose (29-34-5), which has lost two straight.
"We had a couple open nets, we hit a post and so did they," Sharks coach Bob Boughner said. "There were a lot of close calls. We've got to find a way to get a second goal earlier and take over the game."
Nicholas Paul gave the Senators a 1-0 lead at 10:33 of the first period, scoring on a one-timer from the low slot off a pass from Duclair from behind the net.

Evander Kane tied it 1-1 on the power play with 11 seconds remaining in the first. Burns took a shot from the right point that was redirected by Duclair, who batted in his own rebound after Anderson made the initial save.
"The first two power plays we weren't sharp with the puck, we didn't execute with our breakouts and we weren't able to gain the zone," Kane said. "We didn't win any face-offs either, so it was nice to finally get one."
Tierney was awarded a penalty shot with two seconds remaining in the second period after Sharks defenseman Radim Simek was called for covering the puck in the crease, but he missed the net on his attempt.
