OTT@EDM: Draisaitl extends Oilers' lead to 3-1 in 2nd

EDMONTON --Leon Draisaitl ended an eight-game goal drought, and Connor McDavid had two assists for the Edmonton Oilers in a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at Rogers Place on Monday.

Draisaitl scored for the first time since Feb. 17 when he took a pass from Kyle Turris and scored with a shot from the left circle to give Edmonton a 3-1 lead at 14:41 of the second period.
Mikko Koskinen made 26 saves for the Oilers (16-11-0), who have won 10 of their past 14 games and all five against the Senators.
"We talked about, going into the game, that we were going to have to play a full 60 minutes to get a win," Edmonton coach Dave Tippett said. "They're a young team that works hard and you have to put the work in or you're going to be behind it. We gave up a tough one early, but our guys stuck with it and I thought our guys played pretty solid for the most part."

The Oilers are 5-0-0 against the Senators this season.
"Any team that works hard you have to match that intensity and work ethic, otherwise you won't have the puck to bring your skill out," Turris said. "You have to match the work ethic and let the talent and skill come out after that."
Evgenii Dadonov and
Tim Stutzle
scored, and Thomas Chabot had two assists for Ottawa (9-18-1). Joey Daccord made 34 saves.
It was the first of a three-game set; the teams will play here again Wednesday. Ottawa was playing the second of a back to back after a 4-3 shootout win at the Calgary Flames on Sunday.
"It'll be the same game plan [Wednesday]," Chabot said. "We had a few shifts that we kind of got away from it. That's going to happen in a back-to-back game; guys get a little tired at times.
"It was a good game. I think we played them well. We're playing against one of the most dominant, top players in the League right now (McDavid), so it's a big challenge for us and I think we've done a good job."
Dadonov scored on Ottawa's first shot 56 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead. He spun and beat Koskinen from a sharp angle at the near post.
Kailer Yamamoto tied it 1-1 at 7:03 of the first period when redirected a point shot from Darnell Nurse.

OTT@EDM: Chiasson scores on 2-on-1 for PPG in 2nd

Alex Chiasson scored on a 2-on-1 for a power-play goal to give the Oilers a 2-1 lead at 6:03 of the second.
"Our goal was to get out of the first period tied or better, because they're the highest-scoring team in the first (30 goals), and we did that," Senators coach D.J. Smith said. "It's on us, a couple of mistakes just on changes. Our penalty kill did a good job and there was 10 seconds left and guys were racing off, and then they had the quick-up on the other goal. Those are great shots by really good players."
Stutzle, a rookie forward, scored when his shot hit the stick of Oilers defenseman Tyson Barrie and went up over Koskinen's shoulder at 17:57 of the second period for the 3-2 final.
Three of Stutzle's six goals this season have been at Edmonton.
"I just try to play my best game every night, play hard and play my best for the team," Stutzle said. "I like the rink here, but I just try to play my best hockey every night, it doesn't depend on which team we play."
Koskinen made 11 saves in the third period for his first win since Feb. 20.
"You can't fault the effort," Smith said. "I thought the guys really tried in the third period to tie it up. But give them credit, they did a good job."
