OTT@EDM: Puljujarvi's second goal makes it 4-0 in 2nd

EDMONTON -- Jesse Puljujarvi scored his first two NHL goals in more than two years for the Edmonton Oilers in a 4-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at Rogers Place on Tuesday.

Connor McDavid had two assists to extend his multipoint streak to six games, and Mikko Koskinen made 23 saves for Edmonton (6-6-0), which has won a season-high three games in a row.
"I've been talking to [Puljujarvi] quite a bit. He's such a good kid," Oilers coach Dave Tippett said. "It's great to see him get on the board. He's one of our top guys being around, not just getting chances himself, but being able to create chances for other people, so you'd like to see him get rewarded for that work. Tonight, he got rewarded for it."
Cedric Paquette and Tim Stutzle scored, and Marcus Hogberg made 21 saves for the Senators (1-8-1), who have not won since their season opener Jan. 15. They conclude a seven-game road trip at the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
"Tim Stutzle was incredible tonight, especially in the third period," Ottawa coach D.J. Smith said. "Blocking shots, scoring a goal, you could see his desperation to help his team out.
"Thomas Chabot wasn't supposed to play and willed himself in there tonight. These guys care about each other. This young group is battling. It's unfortunate we haven't been able to dig our way out of this, but it's not for a lack of effort."
Chabot was back in the lineup after the defenseman missed an 8-5 loss to Edmonton on Sunday with a lower-body injury.

Darnell Nurse scored at 9:42 of the first period to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead. His point shot went in off the stick of Senators forward Austin Watson.
Puljujarvi made it 2-0 at 12:45 with his first NHL goal since Jan. 6, 2019. He played last season in Liiga, the top professional league in Finland.
"It took a couple of games to get the first one, so it feels pretty good," Puljujarvi said. "I think the important thing was to win the game."
Defenseman Tyson Barrie got his second assist of the night on the goal and has seven points (one goal, six assists) during a four-game point streak.
Leon Draisaitl made it 3-0 at 14:29 on a shot off the right wing, extending his point streak to eight games (seven goals, 10 assists). He had six assists against Ottawa on Sunday, the most in an NHL game since Eric Lindros had six for the Philadelphia Flyers on Feb. 26, 1997.

Puljujarvi scored his second at 5:30 of the second period to make it 4-0. He tipped in a point shot by defenseman Evan Bouchard, who got his first NHL assist in his eighth game. Bouchard had not played for the Oilers since Oct. 25, 2018.
"It feels good to back playing here in Edmonton," Bouchard said. "It took a shift or two to get used to it. But in the end, I thought it was an overall good game from the team."
Paquette scored at 12:06 of the second to make it 4-1 after a point shot from Chabot bounced to him at the side of the net.
"When I got out there this morning and skated, I tried it, got a few hits, a few tight turns, and it was feeling great," Chabot said. "When you're going through times like that, to sit the first game out, it [stinks], you want to be out there, you want to help the team, you want to be there whether it's a win or a loss. I was happy I was able to get out there, and obviously I was feeling good and everything was holding up well on the ice."
Stutzle scored on the power play with 29 seconds left in the third period for the 4-2 final. It was the rookie's second goal in as many games.
McDavid has 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) during the six-game multipoint streak and 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) during an eight-game point streak.
"Tonight was more a good team win, we did a lot of things on the positive side from a team aspect," Tippett said. "We had a couple of young players in Jesse and Bouchard who were contributors in the game, so it is probably nice to talk about other guys."
