Game day in Montreal began with most of the Colorado Avalanche meeting at the hotel restaurant for a quick bite to eat before heading to Bell Centre for morning skate. Most of the team took the second bus at 9:15 a.m.
With the Canadiens practicing at their practice facility on the morning of games, the Avalanche was able to skate at 10:30 a.m. Head coach Jared Bednar made it an optional skate, putting the responsibility on the players to be prepare themselves accordingly for the evening's matchup.

After practice, the team loaded back up on the bus at 11:35 a.m. and returned to its downtown hotel eight minutes later. The players then grabbed a little food and a nap before heading back to the rink. The first bus left at 4 p.m., while the second trip left at 4:45 p.m. There was a little traffic in downtown Montreal, but the club still got to the rink with plenty of time before puck drop.
The start of the contest didn't go well for Colorado as Montreal jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first period, and the Canadiens went on to win 10-1.
As expected, it was a quiet locker room after the game, bus ride and plane trip to Toronto, where the team would face the Maple Leafs the following night. The team's charter flight departed at 11:12 p.m. and landed in Canada's largest city 55 minutes later. Fifty minutes after touching down, the Avs were at their Toronto-area hotel where they turned in for the night.
