Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta is expected to miss six weeks after surgery to repair a hand injury.

Maatta, 22, was injured during the second period of a 4-3 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. He has seven points (one goal, six assists) in 54 games this season.

The Penguins recalled defensemen Cameron Gaunce and Steve Oleksy from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Pittsburgh plays at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, SN, TVA Sports, FS-O, ROOT, NHL.TV).
