stamkos-celly

Hail to Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The center scored the 384th goal of his NHL career to become the Lightning's all-time leading goal-scorer in a 4-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday that gave Tampa Bay its first Presidents' Trophy, along with the top spot in the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division, for home ice advantage throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Stamkos' 36th goal of the season at 6:54 of the first period vaulted him past Vincent Lecavalier, who scored 383 goals in 14 seasons with the Lightning. Stamkos, the Tampa Bay captain, became the third active NHL player to lead his team's all-time goal-scoring list, along with Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin (655) and Vegas Golden Knights center William Karlsson (63).
Stamkos has 82 points (36 goals, 46 assists) in 73 games this season, third on the Lightning behind forward Nikita Kucherov, who leads the NHL in scoring with 117 points (35 goals, 82 assists) and center Brayden Point, who has 87 points (38 goals, 49 assists).
Stamkos has 750 points (384 goals, 366 assists) in 737 games over 11 NHL seasons with Tampa Bay and ranks third on its all-time scoring list, behind Martin St. Louis (953 points; 365 goals, 588 assists) and Lecavalier (874 points; 383 goals, 491 assists).
The Lightning (56-13-4) clinched the Presidents' Trophy in 73 games, the second-fewest needed to secure the award since its inception in 1985-86. The 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings needed 71 games to win the Presidents' Trophy, signifying the best regular-season record in the NHL, on the way to a League-record 62 wins.

Kane-do attitude for Blackhawks

Patrick Kane, with two assists in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks at United Center on Monday, became the third NHL player to reach 100 points this season. The Blackhawks forward has 101 points (41 goals, 60 assists) in 71 games, joining Kucherov and Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid (105 points; 36 goals, 69 assists).
This is the second consecutive season that three players each scored 100 points; McDavid (108 points; 41 goals, 67 assists), Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux (102 points; 34 goals, 68 assists) and Kucherov (100 points; 39 goals, 61 assists) each achieved the feat last season.
The last time more than three players reached the 100-point mark was in 2009-10, when Vancouver Canucks center Henrik Sedin (112 points; 29 goals, 83 assists), Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby (109 points; 51 goals, 58 assists), Ovechkin (109 points; 50 goals, 59 assists) and Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom (101 points; 33 goals, 68 assists) each did so.
Kane became the third player in Blackhawks history to register multiple 100-point seasons, joining Denis Savard (five times) and Jeremy Roenick (three). Kane also became the seventh different active player to do it, joining Crosby (five times), Ovechkin (four), San Jose Sharks center Joe Thornton (three), Penguins center Evgeni Malkin (three), McDavid (three) and Kucherov (two).
Kane also joined Bobby Hull (1968-69) as the only other player in Chicago history to have a 100-point season after turning 30.
There have been five fewer instances of a Blackhawks player requiring fewer games than Kane to reach 100 points; Savard, who did it in four of those instances, was the fastest, needing 57 games to get to the milestone in 1987-88; Hull was the other.

Marchessault, Smith sparkle for Golden Knights

Center Jonathan Marchessault (two goals, two assists) and forward Reilly Smith (one goal, three assists) each had an NHL career-high four points to leads the Vegas Golden Knights to a 7-3 win against the Sharks at SAP Center.
It marked the first time two Golden Knights players each scored four points in the same game and the first time Vegas scored at least six goals in successive days; the Golden Knights defeated the Oilers 6-3 at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday. The Capitals are the only other team to accomplish the feat this season, doing it in a 7-0 win against the Boston Bruins on Oct. 3 and a 7-6 overtime loss against the Penguins on Oct. 4.
Vegas (41-27-5) is in third place in the Pacific Division, seven points behind the Sharks.

Pivotal games set for Tuesday

Two matchups involving four teams out of the playoff picture on Tuesday likely will play a huge role in determining whether they will qualify for the postseason.
The Montreal Canadiens (37-28-7) visit the Philadelphia Flyers (35-29-8) at Wells Fargo Center (7 p.m. ET; NBCSP, TSN2, RDS, NHL.TV) in a game that may help decide the Eastern Conference wild-card race. The Canadiens (81 points) are three points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets (40-28-4), who visit the Calgary Flames (9 p.m. ET; TVAS, SNW, FS-O, ESPN+, NHL.TV), for the second wild card and three ahead of the Flyers (78 points). Montreal and Philadelphia each would have to overtake the Blue Jackets in wins because Columbus has more regulation/overtime victories (39) than the Canadiens (35) and Flyers (33).
The Western Conference wild-card chase could be affected by the outcome when the Colorado Avalanche (31-29-12) visit the Minnesota Wild (34-30-9) at Xcel Energy Center (8 p.m. ET; FS-N+, ALT, NHL.TV). The Wild are one point behind idle Arizona (36-31-6) for the second wild card and the Avalanche are four points behind the Coyotes. Colorado has a game in hand on Arizona and Minnesota.
The Carolina Hurricanes host the Penguins at PNC Arena (7 p.m. ET; TVAS, FS-CR, ATTSN-PT, NHL.TV) with Pittsburgh (39-24-10) looking to gain ground on the New York Islanders and Capitals (each 42-23-7), who are tied for the Metropolitan Division lead; the Penguins are three points behind each.
The Hurricanes (39-25-7) hold the first wild card into the playoffs from the East, one point ahead of the Blue Jackets and are three points behind Pittsburgh with two games in hand.
