NJD@ANA: Terry buries a one-timer for power-play goal

ANAHEIM -- Troy Terry scored two goals to extend his point streak to nine games, and the Anaheim Ducks defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-0 at Honda Center on Tuesday.

Terry has scored 12 points (seven goals, five assists) during his point streak, which is the longest in the NHL this season.
John Gibson made 28 saves for his first shutout this season, and Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and two assists for the Ducks (4-4-3), who are 2-0-2 in their past four games.
"He's playing with confidence," Gibson said of Terry. "When he plays with confidence, you can see it in his game. He's confident with the puck, he's making plays."

Jonathan Bernier made 23 saves for the Devils (4-3-1), who are 1-2-1 in their past four games.
"We didn't have the hands," New Jersey coach Lindy Ruff said. "Sometimes, when you don't have your legs, you don't have your hands. There were plays to be made, we just didn't make them."
Gibson made some key saves early in the first period. He stretched out his left pad to deny Dawson Mercer from in front at 7:40 following a turnover by Cam Fowler, and then used his right skate to stop a partial breakaway attempt by Nico Hischier at 8:52.
Getzlaf then gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 12:05 with a slap shot from the top of the right circle on the power play.
"We got off to a great start in the game," Ruff said. "Came out with a lot of energy, skated well, we had the first two or three chances in the game to take the lead."

Terry extended the lead to 2-0 at 3:48 of the second period during a 5-on-3 power play. He scored on a one-timer off a cross-ice pass from Getzlaf, who faked a slap shot from the right circle before passing to Terry.
The goal was the Ducks' 10th on the power play this season after they scored 11 in 56 games last season.
"You need it to win hockey games," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "We scored so few goals last year and we thought, 'OK, that's a spot where we can grab some extra goals and close the gap on that goal differential.'"
Terry made it 3-0 at 3:38 of the third period when he shot short side from the left circle on a 2-on-1, and Isac Lundestrom scored a shorthanded goal at 7:19 for the 4-0 final.
"Anytime guys are putting the puck in the back of the net and guys are producing, it runs throughout the team," Gibson said. "Everyone is going right now, and hopefully we can keep it going."
Defenseman Dougie Hamilton, who is tied for the Devils lead in points with six (two goals, four assists), did not play the final two periods because of a lower-body injury.
"No update," Ruff said. "I know he talked to the trainer after the first (period). We were hoping he was going to be able to come back, but he wasn't able to return."
NOTES:Devils goalie Mackenzie Blackwood, who missed the first seven games while recovering from heel surgery, dressed for the first time this season and backed up Bernier. ...
