Tkachuk, Toffoli net 3 points each in 7-3 victory

CALGARY -- Matthew Tkachuk and Tyler Toffoli each had two goals and an assist for the Calgary Flames in their 11th straight home win, 7-3 against the Minnesota Wild at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday.

The streak is tied for the longest in Calgary/Atlanta Flames history; Calgary also won 11 straight at home from Nov. 5-Dec. 27, 2015.
Blake Coleman had a goal and an assist, and Jacob Markstrom made 22 saves for the Flames (31-14-6), who have won 11 of their past 12 games. Their 10-game winning streak ended in a 7-1 loss at the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.
"I think that's kind of one of the things this team takes pride in is bouncing back and bouncing back after a tough night in Vancouver too," Toffoli said. "That was definitely one of the responses we wanted and moving forward playing a full 60 minutes and just working hard and playing our type of game."
Kirill Kaprizov scored, and Kaapo Kahkonen made 28 saves for the Wild (31-16-3), who have lost three in a row and five of six.
"They want to win on the other end just as bad as us, but you've got to have that little extra pop in your game," Minnesota forward Nick Bjugstad said. "I don't know. Sometimes, some nights, it's hard to explain why it's not there. I think we have the leadership. We have the guys in this room that want to win bad enough, so you look in the mirror and tighten your bootstraps up and try to find a way in times like this."

MIN@CGY: Toffoli gets a feed in the circle and scores

Frederick Gaudreau scored to give the Wild a 1-0 lead at 1:36 of the first period when he redirected Jon Merrill's point shot.
Toffoli tied it 1-1 at 10:29 on a cross-ice pass by Rasmus Andersson, and Tkachuk made it 2-1 at 11:49 with a power play goal on a set-up at the side of the net by Elias Lindholm.
Erik Gudbranson gave the Flames a 3-1 lead at 17:42.
Calgary outshot Minnesota 18-4 in the first.
"First goal, we stuck with it and we stuck to the game plan," Flames coach Darryl Sutter said. "There were parts of the first where we were really good at it and it allowed us to have some success in their zone."
Andrew Mangiapane's team-leading 27th goal of the season made it 4-1 at 16:44 of the second period, and Coleman gave the Flames a 5-1 lead at 19:19 on a shorthanded breakaway.
Bjugstad scored at 13:25 of the third period to make it 5-2, and Kaprizov cut it to 5-3 at 14:35.
"We want to be known as a team that when we get the lead, we can shut a team down and kind of push them right out of our building," Tkachuk said. "I thought we did that for two periods, played solid, but (then) gave them a little bit of life. We don't want to give teams any life."

MIN@CGY: Kaprizov wires home a shot from tight angle

Tkachuk (18:06) and Toffoli (19:18) each scored an empty-net goal for the 7-3 final.
"We're a really good hockey team and we know what to expect out of ourselves," Wild forward Marcus Foligno said. "It takes one win to get us feeling good again, but sometimes when you're in that funk the next win's the toughest thing. So right now, we've just got to get home and make sure we put up a good fight next game."
Minnesota will host Calgary on Tuesday.
"I guess the best thing possibly is we play them in two nights," Wild coach Dean Evason said. "If we have that type of effort, we'll get embarrassed again. Nobody wants to be embarrassed. Those are professional hockey players in there. We'll respond."
NOTES:The Flames have outscored opponents 53-15 in their home winning streak. ... Calgary defenseman Oliver Kylington left after hitting the end boards at 11:17 of the third period.
