Knoll triple overtime winner

The third overtime was the charm for the Minnesota Frost on Saturday.

The defending PWHL champions defeated the Ottawa Charge 2-1 in triple overtime to take a 2-1 series lead in Game 3 of the 2025 PWHL Finals at Xcel Energy Center.

Frost forward Katy Knoll scored the game-winner halfway through the third overtime. Knoll picked up the rebound from a shot by teammate Klára Hymlárová and backhanded the puck into the back of the net.

The forward was immediately mobbed by her teammates in celebration and the packed Xcel Energy Center went wild.

It was the first goal since the second period when Frost defenseman Lee Stecklein sniped one near the blue line to tie the game 1-1.

The marathon of a game wasn’t even the wildest moment of the night. During the third period, Charge forward Mannon McMahon and Frost defenseman Mellissa Channell-Watkins saw their facemask cages tangled up behind the net.

The two players awkwardly spun in a circle trying to unhook their masks as play continued. Once the refs finally blew the whistle, Channell-Watkins was able to remove her helmet to get the gear unstuck.

Minnesota will look to close out the Charge and win their second-straight Walter Cup during Game 4 on Monday back at Xcel Energy Center.
