The University of Michigan hockey alumni will be keeping watchful, if not flat, sets of eyes on the Wolverines this season.

Washington Capitals forward Carl Hagelin shared a photo of 20 cardboard cutouts, including his own, that will occupy seats at Yost Ice Arena this season.

Hagelin is joined by 19 other Michigan alumni wearing the jerseys of their respective NHL teams. They are Boston Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer, Colorado Avalanche forward JT Compher, Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski, Dallas Stars forward Andrew Cogliano, Detroit Red Wings forwards Dylan Larkin and Luke Glendening and defenseman Jon Merrill, Edmonton Oilers forward Cooper Marody, Minnesota Wild defenseman Greg Pateryn, New York Rangers forward Phillip Di Giuseppe and defensemen Jacob Trouba and Jack Johnson, Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes and forward Tyler Motte, Vegas Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty and Winnipeg Jets forwards Andrew Copp and Kyle Connor.
With no fans in the stands due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, the current Wolverines will still have to perform for Wolverines of the past.
