The Los Angeles Kings celebrated the military Tuesday but saved a special treat for those expecting new bundles of joy.
The Kings wives and girlfriends surprised more than 40 expectant military families with baby showers during the Kings game against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
Each family received a care package with essentials like diapers, onesies, wipes and bottles, and access to the Surprise Baby Shower Suite inside Staples Center. Jeff Carter's wife Megan and Dustin Brown's wife Nicole spearheaded the initiative and went shopping for the supplies.
"I look forward to this event every single year," Nicole Brown told Fox Sports West. "Shopping for all the moms and all the new babies, it's near and dear to my heart and Dustin's heart."
The setup was part of the Kings Salute to Service Night. Each Kings player donned a camouflage warmup jersey, which the team auctioned off during the game.
