Facts and Figures: Devils rally from three goals down to win

Hischier, a 20-year-old center who was the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, became the first player in Devils history to score three overtime goals before his 21st birthday. Among active players, only Ilya Kovalchuk (four) and Sean Monahan (four) scored more overtime goals prior to turning 21.
It's the 15th time this season that a team has won after trailing by three goals. The last time there were more than 15 three-goal comeback wins through Feb. 15 was 2008-09, when there were 16. It was also the 125th multigoal comeback victory in 2018-19, the most in any season through games played Feb. 15.

Quick goals spark Rangers past Sabres

The New York Rangers scored twice in eight seconds late in the third period on the way to
a 6-2 victory
against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center. Pavel Buchnevich scored at 15:59 of the third to put New York ahead 4-2, and Vladislav Namestnikov upped the lead to 5-2 at 16:07.
It was the seventh time this season that a team has scored twice within 10 seconds. On Nov. 1, the Montreal Canadiens set the NHL record for fastest two goals by one team when Max Domi and Joel Armia scored two seconds apart against the Washington Capitals.
There have been 153 instances this season of a team scoring at least six goals in a game. 2018-19 is the second season in the last 20 years to feature at least 153 such instances through games played Feb. 15; there were 154 in 2005-06.

McElhinney stays perfect against Oilers

Curtis McElhinney made 40 saves and remained perfect against the Edmonton Oilers, helping the Carolina Hurricanes to
a 3-1 win
at PNC Arena.
McElhinney is 7-0-0 against the Oilers and has eight wins in his past nine appearances for the Hurricanes (30-22-6, 76 points), who are one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins (30-20-7, 77 points) for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. It was the ninth time in his NHL career that McElhinney has won a game while making at least 40 saves, and he leads all goalies (minimum 40 games played) in goals-against average since the beginning of the 2017-18 season at 2.27.

Halak helps Bruins extend point streak

Jaroslav Halak made 30 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and the 46th of his NHL career, and the Boston Bruins (33-17-8, 74 points) extended their point streak to nine games by
defeating the Anaheim Ducks 3-0
at Honda Center. The Bruins moved within one point of the Toronto Maple Leafs (36-18-3, 75 points) for second place in the Atlantic Division.
Halak is the 14th goalie to have at least four shutouts in his first season with Boston. The last goalie to have more than four shutouts in his first season with the Bruins was Byron Dafoe (six in 1997-98).

First-year Sabres continue to impress

Forward Jeff Skinner and rookie defenseman Rasmus Dahlin continued their impressive first seasons with the Sabres.
Skinner scored two goals in Buffalo's 6-2 loss to the Rangers and is second in the NHL with 36. He's three behind Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin for the NHL lead and one short of matching his NHL career-high of 37, set with the Hurricanes in 2016-17. Only four players have scored more goals in their first season with the Sabres: Pat LaFontaine (46 in 1991-92), Richard Martin (44 in 1971-72), Gilbert Perreault (38 in 1970-71) and Ray Sheppard (38 in 1987-88).
Dahlin, the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, earned his 26th assist of the season on Skinner's second goal. The only defenseman in NHL history with more assists before his 19th birthday is Phil Housley, now Dahlin's coach, who had 40 with the Sabres in 1982-83. Housley (57 points; 17 goals, 40 assists) and Bobby Orr of the 1966-67 Boston Bruins (38 points; 13 goals, 25 assists) are the only 18-year-old defensemen to have more points than Dahlin's 32 (six goals, 26 assists).

Blues go for ninth straight win

The St. Louis Blues will try to extend the NHL's longest active winning streak to nine when they play the Colorado Avalanche (3 p.m. ET; ALT, FS-MW, NHL.TV) in one of 12 games on the NHL schedule Saturday.
A victory would give the Blues their first nine-game winning streak since they won nine in a row from Oct. 15-Nov. 5, 2002. The longest winning streak in Blues history is 10 games, from Jan. 3-23, 2002. The longest winning streak in the NHL this season is 10 games by the Sabres from Nov. 8-27, 2018.
The Blues, who were last in the NHL standings on Jan. 2 at 15-18-4 (34 points), are the eighth team in League history -- and the second this season -- to win at least eight in a row after being last in the League (minimum 10 games played). The Philadelphia Flyers were 8-0-0 from Jan. 14-Feb. 4 after being last in the League as late as Jan. 13 (16-23-6, 38 points).
