New York Islanders goaltender Jaroslav Halak will be sidelined a minimum of six weeks with an injury, coach Jack Capuano said Wednesday.
The timeline would have Halak out through the remainder of the regular season and into the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which begin the week of April 11.

"Jaro's an experienced guy who's played a lot of big games for us," Capuano said. "It's a big loss for our team. But we've got guys who can step up and can hopefully do the job."
Halak left a 2-1 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday in the third period with what appeared to be a lower-body injury. The Islanders on Wednesday did not specify what the injury is.

Thomas Greiss replaced Halak with 4:22 remaining and the Islanders leading 2-1. Greiss stopped three shots to help New York win its fourth straight game.
Halak made 31 saves before leaving his 200th NHL win. He is 18-13-4 in 36 games this season with a 2.30 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.
Greiss will start Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs (7 p.m. ET; SN, MSG+, NHL.TV). J-F Berube is the backup.
