"The idea was to create a holiday weight-loss workout," Lorincz said. "We use some of the drills that we'd use for any athlete in general."
The full-body workout consists of four sets of 10 reps of a seven-workout circuit: goblet split-squats, push-ups, sled push, suitcase carry, ab-rollout extensions, barbell bent-over rows and bar pull-ups. Participants will see results doing it twice-per-week and it can be done at any local gym or even at a home gym.
"We wanted to make sure it's challenging," Lorincz said. "It needs to be challenging, you need to get your heart rate up; you need to be sweating."
Lorincz is in his second season with the Devils and has more than 11 years of experience in strength and conditioning, including six seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. He was asked to create a comprehensive workout plan for people interested in toning their bodies during the holiday season. Last year, Lorincz created a promotional workout for UFC competitors but this is the first time he's designed a themed workout for the public.
"It came from 15 years of being a strength coach," Lorincz said.
He also cautioned against giving up on working out during the holidays and toning as a New Year's resolution.
"With exercise, it's all about consistency," Lorincz said. "It's never too late to start."
