Sergachev invited to Team Russia selection camp

Habs prospect will vie for a spot with his national junior team

MONTREAL -- Recent first-round draft pick Mikhail Sergachev has been invited to Team Russia's selection camp ahead of the 2017 World Junior Hockey Championship, to be held in Montreal and Toronto.

The Habs hopeful will be among the 34 players vying for a spot with their national junior club this month. The Russian camp will be hosted in Kingston, ON, with final cuts coming by December 20.
The 18-year-old defenseman was held scoreless over three games with the Canadiens this season. Now back with the Windsor Spitfires, Sergachev has racked up seven assists through 11 games in the OHL.
Team Russia will open its tournament against Team Canada on December 26 in Toronto.
The annual tournament runs until January 5.
