Draisaitl's 100th point vs. Laila's ASG introductions

The 2019-20 NHL season had many incredible moments before it paused on March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus, and now fans can decide which one was the best.

The Greatest Moments of the NHL season … So Far have been placed into a bracket of 64 entries, and fans will vote on one matchup per day, ultimately deciding the greatest moment up until this point.

Fans can vote on Twitter and Instagram each day from noon until 10 a.m. ET the next day. Each day, the winner of that matchup will be revealed, and a new set of moments will go head-to-head.

Though fans will have the ultimate say, two NHL.com staffers will weigh in on the matchup each day to give his or her opinion on which one should advance to the next round.

In the matchup on Tuesday, the glove save by Vegas Golden Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury defeated Chicago Blackhawks rookie Dominik Kubalik scoring his 30th goal of the season.

The matchup Wednesday features Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl becoming the first player to reach 100 points this season against St. Louis Blues superfan Laila Anderson announcing her hometown players prior to the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game at Enterprise Center.

When Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning scored 128 points last season, it was the most in the NHL in 23 seasons. The question then became would anyone be able to top that total anytime soon? Enter Draisaitl, who got his 100th point in his 65th game this season, three more than it took Kucherov in 2018-19. Draisaitl became the first player in the NHL to hit the century mark this season with two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets on Feb. 29. When the NHL paused its season, he was on pace for 127 points (110 through 71 games), proving it was no fluke when he had 50 goals and 105 points in 2018-19. Draisaitl leads the NHL in power-play points (44) and is tied for first in game-winning goals (10) with David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins. Lastly, Draisaitl had 12 points in a six-game stretch in February when teammate Connor McDavid was out because of an injury. That's called picking up your game, and it's why I give the nod to reaching 100 points over Laila's special moment.

Inspirational Laila Anderson was the face of so much of the Blues' 2019 Stanley Cup championship. She was the rallying point for not just fans of the team that would win the first NHL championship in its history, but of the players themselves and pretty much the entire Blues organization. It worked both ways: Laila's courageous battle against hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis was probably bolstered by her focus on the team. She cheered the Blues to the Stanley Cup title, hung out with the team before, during and after its triumph, took part in the victory parade, and was presented her own Stanley Cup ring. So it made perfect sense for this young woman, who galvanized a team, a city and a fan base, to be on hand at Enterprise Center to introduce Blues all-stars Ryan O'Reilly, Jordan Binnington, David Perron and Alex Pietrangelo. Laila was one of best feel-good stories of the 2018-19 season. She's an all-star by her own right, so she gets my vote for being an uplifting part of the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game.
