Ej and Landeskog daughter

Erik Johnson will always be a part of the Landeskog family no matter what jersey he wears.

The Buffalo Sabres defenseman had a special pregame moment with Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, his wife and two kids at Ball Arena on Wednesday.

During warmups, Landeskog’s kids held up a sign that read “Wrong jersey but we still love you Uncle EJ” behind the glass.

Johnson skated up to Landeskog, who is currently out with a knee injury, and his family, to give them fist bumps through the glass. The veteran forward gifted the kids a puck.

Johnson received a standing ovation from Avalanche fans after a tribute video aired on the arena Jumbotron.

It is Johnson’s first game back in Denver since signing with the Sabres as a free agent in the summer. He spent 13 seasons with the Avalanche and helped them to their 2022 Stanley Cup championship.
