The Anaheim Ducks forward sent a message congratulating Walsh, a 10-year-old who has the genetic disorder Williams Syndrome, for being selected as a member of the Babson hockey team.
Wagner's brother Paul is a defenseman for Babson, a small college in Babson Park, Massachusetts, and they both come from the same town as Walsh, the Boston suburb of Walpole, Massachusetts.
Williams Syndrom is a condition that is present at birth, characterized by cardiovascular disease, developmental delays and learning challenges. Besides the NHL shoutout, and his own Babson jersey, hat and hoodie, Walsh can participate in team functions, attend practices and interact with the players.
Walsh was connected to Babson through Team Impact, a Quincy, Massachusetts-based nonprofit organization that helps improve the quality of life for kids dealing with life-threatening and chronic illnesses by pairing them with college sports programs and giving them a support system.
