You can take the man out of Pittsburgh, but taking the Pittsburgh out of John Gibson is another story.

Gibson paid homage to his hometown and the Ducks' 2006-07 championship team with his new alternate 25th anniversary helmet, which was unveiled Wednesday.
John Gibson's Alternate Jersey mask for the 2018 season. We went back and forth on ideas between the wings, subtle details and the classic design as well as the 3D metal leaf backplate paying tribute to the 2006-07 Stanley Cup team. Can't thank Gibby and the ducks for this opportunity!! @johngibson36 @anaheimducks @nhl #shellshock #maskart #ducks #25thanniversary #cftapes #iwatamedea #houseofkolor #tamcopaint](https://scontent-iad3-1.cdninstagram.com/vp/935d22e15e44ae5a81033b34319adaeb/5C36D0FE/t51.2885-15/e35/s612x612/407960682360888904040395189297798990010192_n.jpg)
The helmet's backplate features an image of the engraved names of the 2007 Ducks, who won the franchise's lone championship, on the Stanley Cup. The front also has a nod to Ducks history, with their original logo on top, teal wings behind a purple background on each side and his No. 36 on his chin.
But behind the Anaheim references are nods to Pittsburgh, where Gibson grew up in the Whitehall neighborhood and attended the city's Baldwin High School. The mask includes holograms of the logos of the NFL's Steelers and MLB's Pirates plus the city's skyline inside the outline of Pennsylvania, with a script "Pittsburgh" in front.
Gibson was the second Ducks goalie in as many days to unveil a Mighty Ducks-themed mask. Anaheim backup Ryan Miller celebrated the old-school theme with his new helmet that he shared Tuesday.
