Here are three takeaways from today's game.

  1. Vegas had beaten the Ducks in the clubs' three previous meetings but were unable to sweep the season series. Anaheim focused on creating a low shot game and kept chances to a minimum. The Ducks got deflection goals from Jakob Silfverberg and Josh Manson. Vegas goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was solid and had no chance on either goal.
  2. The Ducks lost starting goalie John Gibson after the second period when he appeared to suffer an injury in a collision with Reilly Smith. Veteran backup Ryan Miller was brilliant in the last 20 minutes stopping all 20 shots the Golden Knights were able to fire at him.
  3. Vegas was missing four regulars from its lineup with forwards James Neal, Pierre-Eduoard Bellemare and William Carrier as well as defensemen Shea Theodore unable to play. Stefan Matteau and Tomas Hyka were recalled from the AHL to fill in but Vegas didn't seem to have much chemistry on a three of its lines on the evening.
