Fantasy picks: Patrice Bergeron on scoring binge

Each day this season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will provide daily picks for DraftKings NHL contests. This lineup has been constructed with expensive and value picks and should be used as a basis for your roster decision-making.
NOTE: These picks are for four-game contests, excluding the 12:30 p.m. ET game between the New Jersey Devils and San Jose Sharks, and the 3 p.m. ET game between the Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild.

C - Patrice Bergeron, BOS ($6,700)
Viewed by many as one of the biggest busts in fantasy this season, Bergeron has bounced back with 21 of his 33 points coming in the past 17 games. His six-game point streak (four goals, eight assists) ended Saturday, but he should be able to start a new one against the Montreal Canadiens. Bergeron has 20 goals and 27 assists in 63 career games against Montreal. Prior to Saturday, he had back-to-back games of at least 10.0 DraftKings points, and he has at least 3.5 in seven of his past eight.

C - Nathan MacKinnon, COL ($5,900)
MacKinnon is a strong consideration for cash games with a high floor and affordable price tag. He enters Saturday with a goal and three assists in his past three games, and has at least three shots on goal in eight of 10. The Colorado Avalanche have scored 10 goals in three games since ending a nine-game losing streak Feb. 4. He has a power-play point in consecutive games, and the New York Islanders are allowing the fourth-most DraftKings points to centers this season.
W - Jamie Benn, DAL ($7,100)
Like Bergeron, the Dallas Stars captain recently has come on strong, scoring six goals with five assists in his past nine games. He also has at least three SOG in seven of his past nine games, and at least 3.7 DraftKings points in eight out of nine. The Nashville Predators have allowed 11 goals in back-to-back losses and nine in three games against the Stars this season. Benn has a goal, two assists and eight SOG (3.8 DraftKings points per game) against the Predators, and is affordable given his high ceiling.

W - Evander Kane, BUF ($5,400)
Kane's tenure with the Buffalo Sabres started off rocky, but we're starting to get a glimpse of the player who scored 30 goals in 2011-12. He entered Saturday with four goals, five assists and 49 SOG in his past 10 games. That's 4.9 SOG and 4.8 DraftKings points per game during that stretch for Kane, who is playing with center Jack Eichel and right wing Sam Reinhart on the second line. He's also seeing time on the second power-play unit at the point with defenseman Cody Franson out. Kane has a high floor given his SOG volume.
W - Mikko Rantanen, COL ($4,000)
Since we're already considering MacKinnon, it makes sense to stack him with his right wing, Rantanen. The rookie forward entered Saturday with five goals, including his first NHL hat trick, in the past six games. Because of the Avalanche's struggles this season, Rantanen is getting plenty of ice time, fourth among Colorado forwards with 18:15 per game. Rantanen's shot volume isn't high, and he's very reliant on points in DraftKings, making him more of a tournament play.

D - Roman Josi, NSH ($5,700)
Because there aren't many elite options at defenseman Sunday, ownership percentage should be more evenly distributed than usual. Josi has scored in back-to-back games, and has two goals, two assists and 11 SOG since returning from an upper-body injury Feb. 4. His point production in three games against the Stars this season is lacking (one assist), but Josi makes up for it with seven blocks and nine SOG for an average of 3.3 DraftKings points per game.
D - Johnny Boychuk, NYI ($4,800)
Despite the Islanders getting shut out 3-0 by the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, Boychuk had three SOG and two blocks. He has an assist in back-to-back games and has at least 4.0 DraftKings points in four of the past five. Boychuk is a prime candidate for 50/50 contests playing at home, where he has 10 points, 67 blocks and 67 SOG in 28 games. The Islanders should have more success on offense against the Avalanche, who allowed five goals in each of their previous two road losses before playing at the New York Rangers on Saturday.

G - Jacob Markstrom, VAN ($7,100)
Markstrom is a solid tournament play given his low salary and potential for low ownership. The Vancouver Canucks goalie hasn't been stellar (3-6-1 in his past 10 games) but his .927 save percentage during that stretch has saved his value (4.3 DraftKings points per game). Markstrom has gone 13 straight games without allowing more than three goals, and made 26 saves in a 2-1 win against the Sabres on Oct. 20 for 7.2 DraftKings points.
UTIL - Dominic Moore, BOS ($3,300)
Despite being on the fourth line and being used primarily as a penalty-killer, Moore has four assists in his past six games. It appears Bruce Cassidy would like to roll four lines more often than Claude Julien did, with Moore getting at least 13:00 of ice time in the first two games under his new coach. If Moore can get on the score sheet and chip in a few blocks and SOG, he should return value in deep tournament formats.
