St. Louis Blues captain David Backes did not take a shift in the second period of Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
Backes ended his last shift with 5:14 remaining in the first period; he fell awkwardly near the end of it but skated off. He played 4:24 on eight shifts. St. Louis won 6-3, tying the best-of-7 series 2-2.
