Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux hopes to be ready in time for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey in September after having surgery this month to repair his right hip and torn bilateral lower abdominal.
"I feel pretty good," the center told the Flyers website Thursday. "It's been three weeks now and we've been doing a lot of rehab. Slowly biking and doing some cardio, so it's coming along pretty good."
Giroux was named as one of the final seven players to Team Canada's roster last month. The eight-team tournament will take place at Air Canada Centre in Toronto from Sept. 17 through Oct. 1.
