Stadium Series: Hurricanes celebrate with Storm Surge

If there was a roof, it would have been blown off the place.

The Carolina Hurricanes did their first-ever outdoor Storm Surge - their popular postgame salute to fans - after a 4-1 victory against the Washington Capitals at the 2023 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday.
The Hurricanes took their familiar positions around the center circle after the win, but this time they had about nearly three times the amount of fans - 56,961 were in attendance at the usual home for North Carolina State University's football team - clapping along.
Following the usual Skol clap, the Hurricanes dropped their gloves and swung their hockey sticks like golf clubs, a
nod to their pregame attire
for the outdoor event. Players then made the North Carolina State Wolfpack hand sign as they skated around playing to the crowd.
The Storm Surge was followed by an impressive array of team-colored fireworks.
