Canucks team scope

The Vancouver Canucks, who have lost eight in a row (0-7-1) after opening the season with four straight wins, will be without forward Jannik Hansen, who was placed on injured reserve Sunday because of an undisclosed injury. Hansen, who had two assists in a 6-3 loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday and is tied for the Canucks lead with six points in 12 games, is going to be out for a while, according to coach Willie Desjardins. He will be replaced by forward Michael Chaput, who was recalled from Utica of the American Hockey League and participated at the morning skate Monday. "I slept in [Sunday] and woke up to a few missed calls from Vancouver," Chaput told the Canucks website. "I'm happy to be here and ready to play." This is the fourth of a six-game road trip.

Islanders team scope

Defenseman Adam Pelech, a third-round pick (No. 65) at the 2012 NHL Draft, was recalled from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League on Monday and will make his season debut for the New York Islanders. He will replace defenseman Travis Hamonic, who is out 4-6 weeks because of an upper-body injury sustained during a 4-3 shootout loss against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Pelech had two assists in nine games for the Islanders last season and had one goal and three assists in 10 games for Bridgeport prior to this promotion. "I thought [training] camp went pretty well; it just didn't work out with the numbers," said Pelech, who will be paired with Nick Leddy. "I had a good few weeks in Bridgeport. It just gives me a chance to work on my game. I'm glad to be back." New York is 1-3-2 in its past six games.

Status report

Desjardins said Hansen has returned to Vancouver, along with Tanev, who was injured during a 3-0 loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Desjardins said he's hopeful Edler can play after missing the game Saturday. … Islanders coach Jack Capuano is shaking up his lines again, inserting Quine for Beauvillier, who has one goal and four assists in 10 games. Prince, who saw some time on the top line with Tavares, will skate with Quine and Strome. "He's playing well," Capuano said of Prince. "He knows [there are] some deficiencies in his game that he continues to work on, but he's got speed, he's got deception, he's got a quick release. When he plays to his strengths it helps our hockey team. We've just got to continue to work with guys away from the puck. But I like the way that he's played."

Prince had a goal and an assist Saturday, his third multipoint game in the past five. Tavares has one goal and three assists during a four-game point streak. … Daniel and Henrik Sedin each scored a goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, the first time that's happened this season.
