NJD@BOS: Rask stones Bratt's backhand chance

BOSTON --The Boston Bruins extended their point streak to 16 games with a 1-0 win against the New Jersey Devils at TD Garden on Saturday.

Brad Marchand scored for the Bruins (39-17-9), who are 12-0-4 during the streak and haven't lost in regulation since a 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Jan. 19. Boston leads the Toronto Maple Leafs by three points for second place in the Atlantic Division.
"We were expecting that kind of game," Bruins center Patrice Bergeron. "They're a team that doesn't give you much and they're hard on the forecheck, their back pressure is pretty sound. So there's not much room out there on both sides. Obviously, getting that lead early led to us kind of playing stingy and being good defensively, and obviously we would like to score more, but it's definitely the type of game that we played tonight and still found a way, so you've got to be happy with that."

Tuukka Rask made 20 saves for his third shutout of the season and 44th in the NHL. He is 14-0-3 in his past 18 games.
"I think it comes with the experience. You just kind of learn to hang out, watch the game and just take it like a practice, you know," Rask said about the light workload. "When they come you try to stop it, and that's it."
Mackenzie Blackwood made 29 saves for the Devils (25-33-8), who have lost three in a row and five of their past seven (2-5-0).
"I think with the group we have, we have to find a way to get a few more tip-in rebound type plays," Devils coach John Hynes said. "You know we did have some good looks. … But we're not generating enough to obviously be able to score, but then I also think we've got to get some grittier, greasier goals."
Marchand gave Boston a 1-0 lead at 2:37 of the first period with a power-play goal. Jake DeBrusk batted down the puck out of the air to Bergeron, who sent a backhand pass to Marchand in the right circle.

NJD@BOS: Marchand roofs a wrister on the power play

"[DeBrusk] did a great job winning the battle, knocking the puck down and getting it to [Bergeron]," Marchand said. "And [Bergeron] obviously made a phenomenal pass to get it over to me. It gave me a lot of time and it found the back of the net."
Blackwood stopped Marchand on a penalty shot at 7:16.
Jesper Bratt had a breakaway at 9:58 of the third period stopped by Rask after beating Zdeno Chara in a race to the puck following a face-off win by Bergeron in the New Jersey zone.
"There were a couple tips, a one-timer on the power play, but they didn't have a whole lot," Rask said. "In the third period, too, it's a one-goal game so you want to be there. It was kind of a surprising play because we won the face-off and [Bratt's] a pretty quick guy, so he just got the puck and then made a move."

They said it

"The team played great in front of me. I mean, the boys were pretty structured all night long. I mean, we didn't give up too many Grade A chances, so you know, credit to them." -- Devils goalie Mackenzie Blackwood
"Poise, I think. I think the poise that he's shown gives us obviously confidence. He's well positioned facing basically every puck and his rebound control is pretty amazing right now. So it's helping us a lot, bailed us out a few times, especially tonight, and we'll take that." -- Bruins center Patrice Bergeron on goalie Tuukka Rask
