Yotes crescent ice

The Arizona Coyotes announced another blast from the past to go along with their fan favorite Kachina jerseys.

The Coyotes said Tuesday they will be putting a crescent moon at center ice at Gila River Arena for 2020-21 as part of their 25th anniversary celebration in Arizona.

The crescent moon was a signature piece of the Coyotes' early history, which started at America West Arena in Phoenix in 1996. The news fired up Coyotes defenseman Jakub Chychrun, who voiced his excitement on Twitter.

The Coyotes altered their uniform, logo and color scheme when they moved to Glendale in 2003, but brought back the team's original black jerseys as an alternate starting in 2018-19.
They announced they would wear the Kachina jerseys for 25 of 41 scheduled home games for 2020-21 after also wearing them for designated home games in the NHL bubble.
In addition to the jerseys and center ice crescent, the Coyotes announced two 25th anniversary patches that will be on the upper right chest of the red, white, and Kachina jerseys. Both patches feature the Arizona state border and are lined in silver to commemorate the team's silver anniversary.
"We are incredibly proud to celebrate 25 years in the Valley of the Sun," Coyotes owner Alex Merulo said. "We are thrilled to honor our past this season and pay tribute to those players who provided our tremendous fans with so many great memories."
