ovi son split

If you are watching old hockey games during the paused NHL season, you have some pretty elite company.

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and his son Sergei watched the clinching game of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final on NBC Sports Washington on Sunday.

The 4-3 win clinched the first-ever Cup title for the Capitals and Ovechkin, who was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner.

Sergei, who will turn 2 years old in August, was born two months after the Capitals took home the Cup.

If the younger Ovechkin watches closely at the 10:14 mark of the second period, he might even see a familiar face score a power-play goal, which was his 15th of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
