Alex Ovechkin short shifts

It's the slimiest awards show around.

Nickelodeon's 2018 Kids' Choice Sports Awards features six NHL players nominated for various awards, including Alex Ovechkin of the 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals.
Ovechkin is nominated in two categories, "Sickest Moves" for the athlete with the fanciest footwork or best handling skills and "Heavy Hitter" for athletes who have the biggest swings and strongest shots.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is nominated for "Favorite Male Athlete" and Nashville Predators defenseman P.K. Subban is up for "King of Swag" which will crown the best dressed athlete.
Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine and Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane will both be competing for the "Nothing But Net" award, which celebrates great scorers.
In the "Hands of Gold" category, for the best catches or saves, Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne is nominated, but to take home the award he will have to best a field that includes Maddie Rooney, goalie for the gold-medal winning United States Women's Hockey team.
