The Blackhawks were down but in the end never out of their 2013 Western Conference Semifinal series against arch-rival Detroit.

Trailing in the best-of-seven series 3-1, the Blackhawks clawed their way to a drama-filled seventh game at the United Center on May 29, 2013.

Game 7 featured more twists and turns than a Quentin Tarantino movie, including when Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson's apparent go-ahead goal in the final moments of the third period was waved off after coincidental penalties were called far behind the play.
With the crowd of 22,103 a collective ball of tension, a hero or two were needed in overtime to help the Blackhawks defeat the Red Wings and reach their second Stanley Cup Final in three seasons.
Up stepped Dave Bolland and Brent Seabrook.
Early in the overtime, Bolland delivered a crunching hit along the boards on the Red Wings' Gustav Nyquist to free the puck. Seabrook scooped it up and skated into the offensive zone where he encountered a Red Wings defense that was collapsing toward its own goal.
"When you watch it back, that whole play in overtime 'Bolly' really made it all happen," Seabrook said. "He hit (Nyquist) along the boards by the penalty box and the puck sort of just squirted out. I was at the end of a shift and was just going to get to the red line and just sort of get it in and change and I remember having a lot of space."
Seabrook then did something that coach Joel Quenneville had emphasized all season.
"Joel always harped on us about putting shots on net, it didn't matter where you were because you never know what happens," Seabrook said.

Seabrook did as told and ripped a wrist shot from the high slot that deflected off the leg of Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall and bounded past goaltender Jimmy Howard just 3:35 into overtime to set off a raucous celebration from the Blackhawks on the ice and the fans in the stands.
"I just remember a stingy game - both teams were fighting," Seabrook said. "I was on the ice for all four goals, including 'Hammer's' goal that was called back.
"In overtime I just tried to shoot it and get it through," Seabrook added. "It hit Kronwall's leg and bounced off the ice and into the net."
The Blackhawks rode the momentum of the thrilling 2-1 victory to eliminate the Kings in the Conference Final and went on to capture the Cup by defeating the Bruins in six games.
