The LA Kings dropped their fourth consecutive game to begin the 2026-27 regular season, falling by a 2-1 final score in overtime on Saturday evening at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After neither team scored in the opening period, Vegas got on the board early in the middle stanza. Skating on their first power play of the game, the Golden Knights used quick puck movement, from forward Mitch Marner up top, down to forward Mark Stone at the goal line and finally through the slot to forward Trevor Connolly, who scored at the back post for his second goal of the season and a 1-0 lead for the hosts.
Just shy of four minutes after Vegas opened the scoring, the Kings tied the game with a power-play goal of their own. Forward Adrian Kempe fed forward Artemi Panarin in the slot. Panarin delayed, changed the angle of his shot and snapped a wrist shot off the post and in, past Golden Knights netminder Carter Hart, for his team-leading third goal of the season and a 1-1 scoreline.
Neither team scored in the third period and the game progressed into overtime, the second time in four games that has gone beyond the scheduled 60. Kings forward Scott Laughton took a tripping minor midway through the extra session, giving Vegas a power play, with forward Mitch Marner scoring from the center point shortly after, as the Golden Knights took the extra point with a 2-1 win.
Hear from Kempe, goaltender Darcy Kuemper and Head Coach Peter Laviolette following tonight’s game.
